Use of benzalkonium chloride
Benzalkonium chloride is a cationic surfactant, a non oxidizing bactericide, with broad-spectrum and efficient bactericidal and algal killing capacity, which can effectively control the propagation of bacteria and algae and the growth of slime in water, and has good slime stripping effect, certain dispersion and penetration effects, as well as certain degreasing, deodorization and corrosion inhibition effects.
Benzalkonium chloride has low toxicity, no cumulative toxicity, is easily soluble in water, and is not affected by water hardness. Therefore, it is widely used in the circulating cooling water system of petroleum, chemical, power, textile and other industries to control the growth of bacteria and algae in the circulating cooling water system, and has a special effect on killing sulfate reducing bacteria.
Benzalkonium chloride can be used as a bactericide, mildew inhibitor, softener, antistatic agent, emulsifier, conditioner, etc. in the textile printing and dyeing industry, and also as an antiseptic and bactericidal agent for wet wipes.

Benzalkonium chloride is used as bactericidal and algicidal agent, and the dosage is generally 50-100mg/L; It can be used as clay remover with the dosage of 200-300mg/L, and an appropriate amount of silicone defoamer can be added when necessary. Benzalkonium chloride can be used together with other bactericides, such as isothiazolinone, glutaraldehyde, dithiocyanomethane, etc., which can play a synergistic role, but cannot be used together with chlorophenols. After adding benzalkonium chloride, the dirt in the circulating water due to stripping shall be filtered or fished out in time to avoid deposition after the disappearance of foam.
Benzalkonium chloride should not be mixed with anionic surfactants such as polyacrylic acid and hydrolyzed polymaleic acid (HPMA).
